On Monday, Hurricane Sandy hit New York, and it seems that all studios are preparing for their storm vacation except for one (technically two). Even with the hurricane on its way to hit land, “Late Show With David Letterman” taping was already planned, and this time there is a great change – they had no studio audience.
Earlier in the weekend, word in several studios exclaimed that while “The Daily Show,” The Colbert Report,” and the Brooklyn version of the show “Jimmy Kimmel Live” were all cancelling their Monday programs, David Letterman’s “Late Show With David Letterman” and Jimmy Fallon’s “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” were pushing through with their Monday programs. But as the day on Monday gets a little washed up with the water Hurricane Sandy had brought and the weather gets dangerous, audiences are strayed from having continuing their Manhattan plans. This in turn left the studio no option but to do the show without an audience.
